Bridget recorded two 7β records for the now defunct Hacksaw Records out of San Francisco in late 1992. The band then hooked up with Placebo/ Beggars Banquet Records in the UK to put out their 10β Vinyl EP, βSoundβ which was very well received by the English press and Radio. Bridget then put their first full length album, βLight This Candleβ for Grass Records, released November 1993. After a series of mini-tours, billboard appropriations, and an appearance at CMJ in NYC, original drummer Wayde Carroll left the group to teach disabled Eskimo children in Alaska. Wayde was replaced in the summer of 1994 by Matt Etheridge, formerly of Los Olvidados, Drunk Injuns, and Hemi.
The band recorded their sophomore release, βBridget of Californiaβ in one week at their rehearsal space during August 1994. This album had a custom 500pc. Release on top of the standard CD packaging. The custom packaging contained hand printed Vietnamese, sheet lead inserts of the standard booklet, and four .25 caliber rifle bullets in the spine of the jewel case. The hand-stamped numbered series disks were then sealed and crimped closed, only to be opened by cutting the seal with wire cutters. After some wrangling with Grass Records Distributors over shipping weight, and multiple phone calls to the E.P.A, F.D.A and A.T.F regarding the contents of the packaging, the disks wouldnβt see the light of day for nearly a year.
